Hiking The Narrows is a must do when visiting Zion. To give you scale of the picture below, you see me in the foreground, and another hiker in the distance at the base of the right wall. The bottom up hike in the Virgin River can be as long or as short as you like. Depending on the time of year you may need to rent equipment from a local outfitter (boots, waterproof pants, etc). I would say that a walking stick is a necessity because of the slippery rocks to maintain balance.

My first visit to Zion, was during early November, a little late for peak colors, but still amazing to look at. No matter which way you turn, every view in Zion is a postcard.
